Moving home can be a daunting task. And it isn’t on many people’s list of favourite things to do.
But we’ve found some tips from Realestate.com to help you prepare properly for a move so you can avoid the stress that often comes with moving.
- Pack boxes efficiently. Many people cram their belongings into any place that’ll fit but this can cause major headaches at the other end. It’s worth taking the time and effort to arrange your things starting with labelling those boxes correctly and keeping the boxes for each room together.
- Plan ahead and begin packing as early as possible. Things you don’t need everyday, such as towels, sports equipment and documents, can be packed ahead of time.
- Pack an Essentials Kit separately. On moving day, put a box of those items you just can’t do without in your car for easy access later on. This might include toiletries, blankets, pillows, medication, phones and chargers, clothes for the next day, a kettle and toaster, or anything else you might need immediately after moving in. You never know when that removalist van is going to be held up and not make it to your new home on time.
- Get rid of the clutter. Moving is a great time to really go through your belongings and get rid of anything that is just taking up space in your home.
